Public University Entry Statistic

Not everyone who scored a 4.0 CGPA in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent got his/her first choice when applying for a place in degree programmes in public universities. “This is because we didn’t only look at their academic results but also their co-curricular activities,” said Higher Education Department director-general Prof Datuk Dr Radin Umar Radin Sohadi to The Star on 19th June 2008.

For those students unable to secure a place in public universities, tamiliyakkam advised them to further their studies in IPTS or other Institution. They were also advised not to depend on scholarships from the Government but rather to try to look for alternatives for the financing of their tertiary education. For example, to work while studying or to go into distance learning.
